Mallorca, in Spain’s Balearic Islands, could see heavy showers from Sunday as a weather change approaches. On Tuesday, 13 October, only scattered light rain is possible in the Balearics. The Spanish State Meteorological Agency (Aemet) says the weekend forecast still needs confirming.

For now, much of Spain is warmer than usual, with temperatures 5 to 10°C above the seasonal norm across large areas. Much of the mainland will top 25°C, while the south will exceed 30°C. Coastal parts of the Murcia region and Almería province could see locally heavy showers on Wednesday and Thursday, but the forecast does not indicate similar showers in the Balearics on those days.

A weather system called a dana could reach Spain from higher latitudes over the weekend. Temperatures across the country could then fall sharply, dropping below the seasonal norm on Saturday and Sunday. Showers could grow heavier in the Mediterranean area and the Balearics, especially from Sunday. Whether heavy rain reaches Mallorca remains uncertain.
