Mallorca Grand Prix des Baleares: Helios Pierji wins

Helios Pierji, driven by J. A. Riera, won the Grand Prix des Baleares Eqwin at the Hipódromo de Son Pardo in Palma on Saturday, 26 September. The Mallorca trotting race was the main event of the Chapeau, sa Roqueta meeting. Kito Turgot, driven by J. Riera S., took second place, while Gamin de Mahey, with M. Mestre at the reins, came third.

The Consell de Mallorca staged the meeting as the Grand Prix marked its 20th anniversary. After the race, Pedro Bestard, the council’s second vice-president and councillor for environment, rural affairs and sport, presented the trophy to Riera. He was joined by Gaspar Oliver, president of the Institute of Equestrian Sport of Mallorca, and Juan Antonio Rosselló, president of the Balearic Trotting Federation.

The sporting programme also included the Critèrium Nacional, the Premi Société TF and the Premi Aniversari FBT. Away from the track, the event featured a fashion show, food tastings, a hat contest, children’s games and entertainment, DJ sets from Antto Cabanellas and Biel Castell Cladera, and equestrian displays. The entrance hall hosted an exhibition of art, crafts and fashion, while prizes went to the most elegant and original woman and man.
