Mallorca hiker airlifted with ankle injury near Valldemossa
Mallorca: A hiker stumbles and injures her ankle between Puig des Teix and Valldemossa on Saturday, leaving her unable to descend. At about 18.35, the Guardia Civil and the SAMU 061 emergency medical service carry out a helicopter rescue, the Guardia Civil says. A doctor flies to the area with the Guardia Civil’s mountain rescue and air units.
The hiker and her companion signal with a head torch, helping the crew find them. The helicopter rests partly on the ground so two officers and the doctor can get out and treat her. They then bring her aboard and fly her to Son Espases University Hospital.
