Mallorca families can claim €1,000 for holiday camps

Families in Mallorca and across the Balearics can apply from Thursday for up to €1,000 per child towards holiday camps and school-holiday care. The Cheque canguro childcare voucher scheme closes for applications on 9 October. The Balearic Government’s Ministry of Labour, Public Function and Social Dialogue says the funding is aimed at helping working families meet care costs when school is out.

The scheme’s third programme covers camps and summer, Easter and Christmas schools. It can also pay towards other public or private childcare, care and supervision services on the Balearics.

What the €1,000 can cover

The activity must have taken place in the Balearics during an eligible school holiday, and families must be able to prove the spending.

The €1,000 ceiling is shared between holiday care and the morning-school scheme. Families who have also applied for Programme 2 must declare the costs claimed for each child, although applications can be made for all compatible programmes.

Nearly 1,400 Balearic families have already applied for Cheque canguro support for morning-school costs. That application period closed on 31 July.

Rules for applicants

Applicants must be registered and resident in the Balearics when they apply and throughout the funded period. They must also show that work, whether employed or self-employed, or an equivalent situation makes family and work arrangements necessary.

Annual family income per person must be below €30,000. Applicants must be up to date with tax and Social Security obligations, and keep supporting documents for five years.

Complete, valid applications will be dealt with in the order they arrive until the available budget runs out. Required papers include the application and declarations, bank-account proof, and a family book or equivalent document; evidence for single-parent, large-family, guardianship or foster status is needed where relevant.

A separate Programme 1 will accept applications from 1 to 31 October 2026. It can provide up to €4,000 per family towards the wages and Social Security contributions for a household employee hired to care for children.
