Mallorca gets 90 of first €10,000 home grants
Mallorca, in Spain’s Balearic Islands, accounts for 90 of the first 100 €10,000 homebuying grants paid to young people. The Balearic government’s Department of Housing, Territory and Mobility announced the payments on Monday, 2 November 2026. Eight grants went towards homes on Menorca and two towards homes on Ibiza.
845 applications from Mallorca
Since applications opened on 17 July, the government has received 955. Of those, 845 came from Mallorca, 60 from Menorca, 26 from Ibiza and one from Formentera. Another 23 have not yet been assigned to an island.
The scheme has an initial budget of six million euros for 2026 and 2027, and the government is working to increase it. The Directorate-General for Housing is still processing applications from across the islands.
Who can get the grant
Applicants can be up to 40 years old and must have lived continuously in the Balearic Islands for at least five years. They must have bought, or be in the process of buying, a home there since 1 January 2026. Homes under construction are eligible too.
The property must cost no more than €382,000 and serve as the buyer’s permanent main home for at least five years. As a general rule, applicants cannot own another home in Spain, and annual income must not exceed €54,600. Higher income limits apply in certain family and personal circumstances.
Applications remain open until 31 December 2027 unless the money runs out sooner. They are processed in the order received. The grant can be combined with the government’s ‘Nueva hipoteca joven’ mortgage guarantee programme and, subject to conditions, other help towards buying a home.
