In Palma, Mallorca, a young man accused of kicking another man to the ground in a homophobic street attack faces trial on 2 March 2029. The alleged attack happened in March 2025. The Second Section of the Provincial Court set the trial date at a preliminary hearing on Thursday, 29 October 2026.

According to prosecutors, the accused was with other young people, some of them minors, when they directed homophobic abuse at a man walking with a female friend. They also mentioned his Hello Kitty T-shirt. The man tried to avoid a confrontation, but the accused allegedly kicked him to the ground, then hit and stamped on him while continuing the abuse.

The prosecutor says the accused acted solely to humiliate the man because of his sexual orientation. Prosecutors seek one year and two months in prison for a hate crime or, alternatively, one year and six months for an offence against moral integrity. They also seek 2,700 euros in compensation for physical and emotional harm.

The presiding judge said the trial could take place sooner if another case is cancelled or a gap opens in the court diary.
