Formentera hospital rain leak halts planned surgery

Responsible for this content: Frank Menze

Formentera’s hospital has stopped planned operations again after Wednesday’s rain sent water into its operating theatre. Emergency and urgent surgery can still go ahead, as can births, the Eivissa and Formentera Health Area says. The decision comes just a day after the theatre reopened for planned procedures.

Those procedures had been on hold since rain linked to Dana Adam last October. Teams are now tracing where the water is getting in before deciding what work is needed to stop it happening again. The health authority says planned surgery will remain on hold to protect patients and staff.
