In Palma, Mallorca, Hotel Portitxol wants to keep its pool and terrace on public port land after its current permit expires on 16 December 2027. Its operator, Langosta Hotel y Restaurante, has applied to extend the permit, known as a concession, over 903.40 m2 in the Portitxol area of the port. On Thursday, 15 October, the Balearic Islands Port Authority opened the application to public inspection for 20 days.

The hotel currently uses a larger area than the one it has asked to retain. As well as the pool and sun terrace, it has structures used for shade and as additional rooms.

The extension has not been approved. The port authority is processing the application as a possible direct award, and the documents can be viewed through its electronic office.
