Spain’s hotel sector tracks 2025 summer performance
Spain’s hotel sector is experiencing a steady summer broadly matching its 2025 performance, Jorge Marichal, president of the Spanish Confederation of Hotels and Tourist Accommodation, said in Madrid, Spain, on 21 August 2026.
Hotel overnight stays rose by 0.3% in July. Marichal highlighted strong results at campsites in Asturias and developments in Zaragoza, while Fuerteventura recorded a slight year-on-year decline that did not change the industry’s overall positive direction.
International demand and air links support outlook
The figures align with the Smart Observatory Verano-Otoño 2026 report, presented by the industry association and PwC, which forecast a summer close to the previous year’s level alongside firmer international demand.
Air connections to Spain are expected to increase by 6.1% between July and September. Capacity is projected to grow by 10.8% from Italy and 7.7% from the United Kingdom, while international markets combined are expected to rise by 11.4%.
