Spain unlocks 40.41 million euros for housing

Spain is directing 40.41 million euros to housing and land projects run by municipal and supra-municipal bodies. The Cabinet approved the direct grants in Madrid on September 8 through a Royal Decree. The money comes from the Ministry of Housing and Urban Agenda for projects during 2026.

The announcement does not say which bodies or projects will receive the funding.

Rent and holiday-let measures

The government also points to measures intended to curb rent prices and discourage speculation in ordinary homes. Landlords who keep or freeze the rent when renewing a tenant's contract could receive income-tax breaks.

It also plans to regulate and monitor seasonal lets and room rentals, aiming to stop them being used to sidestep limits in the Housing Law. Tourist flats are also set to face tougher tax treatment.

Casa 47 portal lists 800 homes

Casa 47, the State Housing and Land Entity, launched its first portal for Spain's public housing stock this week. It already lists 800 homes.

A further 1,500 homes from across Spain are due to be added soon. No date has been given for their inclusion.
