Plaza de España in Palma, Mallorca, is clear of tents after around 40 days: officers dismantle a housing protest camp on Wednesday night, 4 November. Mayor Jaime Martínez welcomes the clearance on Thursday in a video filmed on the square and posted on social media. He says the square is once again for all Palma residents.

Martínez says the city acted under Palma’s civic ordinance and its rules on occupying public streets and squares. He says the city had repeatedly asked the Spanish Government Delegation to act within its powers. He ends the video by thanking Palma’s Local Police, Emaya staff and other municipal services for their work.
