Responsible for this content: Frank Menze

On Mallorca, in the Balearic Islands, unions and housing groups plan a nationwide strike on 11 November over housing and the cost of living. On Wednesday, they will file formal notice at the Balearic government's Ministry of the Presidency, Coordination of Government Action and Local Cooperation in Palma. The organisers are STEI, CCOO, UGT, SATI, CGT and CNT, alongside the Sindicat de Llogateres de Mallorca and PAH.

STEI says the strike will demand decent housing and living conditions for everyone. The groups want to draw attention to the growing difficulty workers face in finding a home and keeping up with rising living costs. They are also calling for wages people can live on.

After filing the notice, representatives of the groups plan to explain to the media why they have called the strike and what they are demanding in the Balearic Islands.
