Balearic housing worries top Spain: 53.2% cite it
Mallorca is part of Spain’s region most concerned about housing: 53.2% of people surveyed across the Balearic Islands put it among the country’s three biggest problems. The islands also lead every other Spanish region for personal concern about housing, at 39.6%. The figures come from an analysis released on Tuesday, 29 September, by research institute Opina 360, using data from Spain’s Centre for Sociological Research over the past six months.
Young adults feel the pressure most
Across Spain, 50.2% of people under 35 name housing as their biggest personal concern. Among 18- to 24-year-olds, the figure is 51.1%; for those aged 25 to 34, it is 49.6%.
Looking at the country as a whole, 42.6% of respondents of all ages put housing among Spain’s three biggest problems.
The gap between big cities and small towns
In Spanish cities with more than a million people, 50.7% rank housing among the country’s three biggest problems. That falls to 37.5% in places with fewer than 2,000 people.
The gap is wider for personal concern: 35.6% in the largest cities, against 19.1% in the smallest places. The report gives figures for the Balearic Islands as a whole, but none for Mallorca separately.
