Responsible for this content: Frank Menze

Mallorca’s general hunting season opens on Monday, 12 October: partridges, thrushes and woodcocks can be hunted, but the closing date depends on the species and the method. Some hunting can continue until 10 February, the Council of Mallorca says.

Which hunting ends first?

Hare hunting with greyhounds or birds of prey ends on 6 December, as does rabbit hunting by any permitted method. Rabbit hunting can continue until 27 December with express permission from the hunting-ground holder.

The season for partridges, pheasants, fieldfares, mistle thrushes and huntable waterbirds runs until 31 January. Other species, including song thrushes and woodcocks, can be hunted until 7 February.

Decoy partridge hunting starts on 27 December and normally ends on the last Sunday in January. With express permission from the hunting-ground holder, it can continue until 10 February, with hunting allowed every day during the extension. Traditional thrush hunting, known as filats a coll, also runs until 10 February.

Which days is hunting allowed?

The Council of Mallorca’s Island Hunting Directorate says shotgun hunting in hunting grounds is allowed on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays, Sundays and national or regional public holidays.

For filats a coll, the permitted days are Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays and those public holidays. Hunting by this method is allowed every day from 31 January to 10 February.

On open hunting land, hunting is allowed only where the municipality has joined the framework plan. The permitted days there are Thursdays and Saturdays.
