Ibavi housing row: Marratxí denies favouritism
Marratxí Council in Mallorca has denied favouring relatives in the allocation of Ibavi homes on 25 September. MÉS per Marratxí alleges that family members of municipal representatives benefited from the process. The council says the public housing company Ibavi made the decisions without any intervention from the town hall.
According to the council, the allocations followed set rules, requirements and objective criteria. It says it played no part in awarding a home to the son of a local councillor, adding that he had been on Ibavi’s housing applicants register since March 2023.
The five-year residence requirement comes from autonomous-community housing rules, the council says. It is intended to give people living in the municipality priority access to public housing.
The council also rejects the claim involving a second person. It says there is no family link between the other successful applicants and any councillor on the governing team.
MÉS has also referred to an information request seeking the names of those allocated homes. Marratxí Council says that request is unrelated to these allocations and cannot be used to suggest wrongdoing. It says public accusations made without evidence unfairly call into question officials and staff involved in administrative procedures.
