Ibiza bus depot floods again: drivers cannot get in

Ibiza’s Alsa bus depot in Platja d’en Bossa floods again: drivers cannot reach their buses, the PSOE group on the Ibiza Island Council says. In a statement on 21 October, the party says water brought by the Adam storm reached as high as the bus doors, according to witnesses. It says the Military Emergency Unit had to remove water from the area, while ramps for people with reduced mobility were also affected.

The PSOE raised concerns about the depot five months ago. It said buses parked on the unpaved site became stuck in mud after rain, leaving some unable to leave. The party says the latest flooding shows the problem has not been fixed. It also says the conditions make drivers’ work harder and disrupt the bus service.

Now the PSOE wants to know whether the island council checked the depot before the new public transport contract began. It is asking what the council has done since the first complaint, what checks it has carried out and what it has asked Alsa to fix. The party also wants to know who owns the site and who is responsible for maintaining it.
