Ibiza rain floods ambulance crew's rest room again

Responsible for this content: Frank Menze

Rain seeps through the ceiling of an ambulance crew’s rest room in Eivissa, Ibiza, leaving the floor completely waterlogged. On 23 October 2026, staff representatives say the leaks and damp at the emergency medical technicians’ base remain unfixed despite earlier complaints. At Can Misses Hospital, the ambulance has no covered parking space, leaving its electrical connection cable exposed to rain.

The works council says conditions worsen whenever it rains, making it harder for crews to spend their shifts in a safe base. It also says staff lack wellington boots and raincoats for working in wet weather. The exposed cable raises concerns about possible risks, which the council wants assessed urgently.

The council is demanding roof repairs, an end to the damp in the rest room and a cover for the ambulance parking space. It wants the operator, Gestión Sanitaria y Asistencial de Baleares (Gsaib), to set out specific work and deadlines in writing. The council’s statement gives no date for repairs.
