Ibiza beach party: city barriers spark questions

Responsible for this content: Frank Menze

Barriers from Eivissa’s Municipal Sports Board helped mark out the private ‘Feels Like Eclipse’ party on the beach at Sant Antoni, Ibiza, on 12 August. Now Socialist councillors in Eivissa want to know why city-owned equipment was made available for it. They are asking sports councillor Catiana Fuster to say who requested the loan, how much equipment was handed over and on what terms.

The Socialist group says the city often lends equipment to other public bodies or organisations. But it wants Fuster to release documents showing that this loan followed the board’s procedures.

The party at s’Arenal has faced public questions on other grounds, the group says. The Balearic regional government has also announced proceedings over possible breaches of the event’s permit conditions.
