Ibiza bus network carries 5.9m as trips jump 25.8%
Ibiza’s new bus network carries 5.9 million passengers from April to September in its first high season. That is almost 1.2 million more than in the same months of 2025. Bus trips rise by 25.8%, according to the Ibiza Island Council, which says passengers have responded to an expanded service.
The monthly total passes one million for the first time in June. August reaches 1.2 million passengers, up 40.2% on August 2025, while September records 998,385. Across the season, the council puts the increase at around 6,665 passengers a day compared with last year.
The growth is not just in occasional journeys, the council says. Between April and July, frequent-user cards and passes account for 2.1 million trips, or 58.7% of all trips in those months. With the high season over, the council plans to strengthen some services this winter.
