Ibiza tourism councillor urged to quit over mortgage
In Sant Antoni, Ibiza, tourism, festivals and trade councillor Miguel Tur faces a call to resign on 30 October over 19 council files and a mortgage deal involving his sister’s home. Podemos Eivissa says Tur appears in the files, which it links to a business group. The party also wants mayor Marcos Serra to answer for his continued support of Tur.
The files and the mortgage
Podemos points to more than two million euros in contract awards and spending. It also cites small contracts, bills processed without the financial controller’s review, and planning decisions.
According to reports cited by Podemos, Tur took part in council procedures involving companies in the group after Ice Properties bought the mortgage loan on his sister’s home. The property deal is also linked to a judicial investigation into suspected concealment of assets. The information cited by Podemos does not say Tur is under investigation.
Podemos calls for an audit
Podemos wants an independent audit of the affected files and a check on whether Tur should have stepped aside from any decisions. It says any irregularities found should go to the relevant oversight bodies and courts.
The party also wants Serra to explain publicly what he knew, when he knew it and what action he took. It says he should face political consequences if he continues to back Tur rather than provide answers.
