Ibiza eclipse party ticket row: mayor pressed for answers
An August eclipse party in Sant Antoni de Portmany, Ibiza, faces a ticket row: the local Socialist Party (PSOE) says new information suggests organisers charged entry, although the permit described a free concert. On Monday, 5 October, the party called on mayor Marcos Serra to explain how the council authorised the event.
The PSOE wants the permit reviewed in full. It says the review should establish whether organisers followed its conditions and whether the town council carried out the required checks.
Before the solar eclipse, the party had warned of risks from an expected large turnout around Portmany Bay. It also raised the event in parliament, seeking answers about the coastal permit, the area of beach used and the financial terms of that use. It asked why no safety measures or plans for getting people around had been made. The PSOE now wants Serra to give an account of the decision and take responsibility.
