Ibiza flood risk: Sant Antoni checks beach and roads
Flood risk on Ibiza: Sant Antoni de Portmany council checks vulnerable spots at the Passeig de la Mar and s'Arenal beach this week as it puts its emergency plans into practice. Its teams also visit places where streams cross roads, along with the Montecristo industrial estate, Cala Salada and the Can Coix sports complex.
The council says the work is meant to help its services prepare for emergencies and work together. After formal approval, putting the municipal emergency plan and flood-risk response plan into practice is compulsory. Training sessions have covered staff responsibilities, the municipal emergency coordination centre and how to activate the plans, with particular attention to flooding.
The next step is an emergency drill on the morning of 18 November. The council also plans a public briefing in its council chamber that day.
