Ibiza is focus as foundation spends €1.56m on aid
Ibiza and Formentera were the main focus for 72 projects in 2025 as the Abel Matutes Foundation and Palladium Cares spent €1.56 million on social and environmental work. The foundation set out the figures on Thursday in its first formally presented annual report. The total was nearly 50% higher than the previous year.
Forty of the island projects supported children and social causes, while 23 backed grassroots sport and nine promoted culture. Local work included help to rebuild Cáritas Ibiza’s Casa de Betania after its collapse, and support for the Club Náutico Ibiza’s Un Mar de Posibilidades social-inclusion programme.
Across Spain, Italy, Mexico, the Dominican Republic, Jamaica and Brazil, the foundation ran more than 250 initiatives. It said they reached more than 9,800 people and involved 1,200 volunteers from Palladium Hotel Group. Urgent assistance was also sent to Jamaica after Hurricane Melissa.
Training and island spending
More than 1,500 people in vulnerable situations received job training through the foundation’s vocational centres. Ibiza joined that network in 2025 with two hospitality programmes run with Cáritas, taught by hotel-group staff.
The foundation allocated €690,167 to social and education programmes and €340,265 to training for work. A further €177,543 went on promotional activities in Ibiza and Formentera, while €282,264 was assigned to social-impact initiatives.
Environmental budget rises
Environmental investment rose by 198.9%, according to the report. The €73,937 budget supported food donations through the OREKA project and biological conservation programmes in Riviera Maya, Costa Mujeres and Jamaica.
Gloria Juste, the foundation’s director and Palladium Hotel Group’s vice-president for social responsibility, said the report was intended to show how the group’s long-standing commitment was being put into practical projects.
