What happened in her room

The woman was being treated on the hospital’s internal medicine ward. The Ibiza and Formentera Health Area said she had become severely agitated and was at risk of harming herself. Staff had used physical restraints and medication on instructions.

During a check at around 11.00, staff found her dead and alerted the police. The hospital gave investigators information and camera footage.

Detectives take over

Police units in Ibiza began the inquiry. Homicide detectives from Palma then took over and travelled to Ibiza. The circumstances of the woman’s death remain under investigation, and the case has been declared secret.
