Ibiza housing: €4.7m plan for Sa Penya homes
Eivissa Council plans to put €4.7 million into housing in Sa Penya, Ibiza, with a budget change due for approval on Thursday. The money would buy homes and residential buildings for the municipal housing stock, while funding the restoration of council-owned properties in the historic area. Five protected homes are planned in the Sa Penya scheme.
Homes for the public stock
The council has earmarked €2.9 million to buy homes or residential buildings and bring them directly into public ownership. These properties could be used for affordable or social rents.
Priority would go to people who have been registered as residents in the municipality for at least ten years. The budget change is being funded through extraordinary credits from the council’s treasury surplus.
Five protected homes in Sa Penya
A further €1.8 million is set aside for a full refurbishment of council buildings in Sa Penya’s UA 2-3 area. Municipal technicians have already drawn up an initial plan to change the buildings’ use and create five protected homes.
The proposal would retain the protected features of the historic complex, including its building lines and volume. The council is now preparing the basic and detailed project.
The investment adds to other work under way in Sa Penya, including restoring municipal homes and bringing properties into affordable rental use. In the first call for seven protected homes under the municipal plan, applicants also needed at least ten years’ registration in Eivissa, while three homes were reserved for young people.
