Ibiza marina race puts €20m harbour overhaul in play

Two companies are bidding on 9 September 2026 to run a sports marina in the port of Eivissa, Ibiza. Club Náutico Ibiza faces Puertos y Litorales Sostenibles SL, the company currently managing the facilities. A €20 million modernisation plan sits at the heart of the contest.

The Port Authority of the Balearic Islands (APB) is offering a concession lasting up to 25 years. It wants the marina to strengthen sailing and canoeing, with schools, federated competition teams, sporting and leisure events, and support for athletes among the required commitments.

€15m first phase includes new breakwater

About €15 million would be spent during the first two years of the concession. The plan covers a full reshaping of the marina’s water area, a new breakwater and a refit of the existing buildings.

A further €5 million is earmarked for a second phase, but that work depends on approval of the Special Plan for the port of Eivissa. It would expand and develop the existing buildings.

The marina must offer at least 170 berths for boats measuring 6 to 15 metres. Up to 15% may be set aside for visiting boats, while at least 4% of berths must have charging points for electric vessels.

Technical plans remain sealed

The future operator would also provide berth management, catering, water and energy supplies, boat repairs, parking and a dry marina. How much each bidder commits to promoting sport will be a key factor in the decision.

The concessions tender opening panel has checked both submissions and found administrative documents that need correcting. The technical proposals have therefore not yet been opened.

Once the firms complete the paperwork within the allotted procedure, the panel will move to the next stage and open the technical bids. The APB says the usual tender timetable remains unchanged.
