Ibiza party lake: 60,000 cubic metres spark water row

Sant Antoni, Ibiza: 60,000 cubic metres of water in an artificial lake at an Egypt-themed party fuel a political row, while the case concerning the event continues. On 29 September 2026, Balearic Sea and Water Cycle Minister Juan Manuel Lafuente tells parliament that the case is still under way. Socialist MP Pilar Costa asks him about complaints her parliamentary group lodged over parties in Sant Antoni.

Lafuente says the Socialists first claimed that 170,000 cubic metres of water had been wasted in the lake. He says the figure turned out to be 60,000 cubic metres.

Costa questions whether Ibiza’s development is sustainable for its natural resources and criticises the regional government’s handling of water. Lafuente counters that failing to invest in water resources is what the island cannot sustain. He says the government has made a major effort on Ibiza, but gives no date for the case to end.
