Ibiza PP demands snap Spanish election over deadlock
Ibiza, Balearic Islands: the People's Party demands an immediate Spanish general election on Saturday, 3 October, saying Pedro Sánchez's government cannot pass laws or a budget. Its Ibiza branch says the deadlock is damaging public services and affecting people directly.
José Vicente Marí, who leads the party on Ibiza, says the government lacks a parliamentary majority. He also accuses it of corruption. The party set out his claims in a statement.
Vicent Marí, president of the Island Council of Ibiza, also wants an election. He says that after eight years the government has failed to resolve Ibiza's housing and immigration problems or rising food prices. He wants voters to decide the country's future.
