Ibiza beach reopens for swimming after sewage spill

Swimming is allowed again at s'Arenal beach in Sant Antoni de Portmany, Ibiza, on 2 October after a sewage spill closed it on 20 September. The green flag is back, and the latest water tests are within bathing limits, Sant Antoni de Portmany council says.
A piece of iron jammed a pump in the sewer system, causing the spill. The pump was repaired on the day the beach closed, but later tests still found signs of contamination in the swimming area. The council kept the beach closed until fresh results showed the water was safe for bathing.
