Ibiza storm: Person rescued after night in car
Heavy rain forces a person to spend the night in a car in Cala Mestella, in the municipality of Santa Eulària on Ibiza: emergency crews rescue them on Monday. The Ibiza storm, named Dana Adam, floods homes, brings down trees and closes roads across the municipality. By noon on Monday, 77 litres per square metre have fallen in six hours, Santa Eulària Town Council says.
Homes flood and roads close
Water floods two homes in Font des Murtar and another in Polígon 7. A roof comes loose on Carrer Gregal, while a garage floods on Carrer Paó in Jesús. Several trees fall, and accumulated water affects some hotels.
Water builds up in the Torrent de ses Dones in es Puig d’en Valls, forcing a crossing to close. Sa Llavanera and es Figueral also see heavy water build-up. The storm damages the beach at es Figueral, while Cala Llenya has substantial flooding. In es Canar, water affects the promenade and partly floods several parking areas.
Large rock falls onto road
Near Bungalow Park in es Figueral, a large rock falls onto the road. No one is hurt, but the road is affected. Two excavators go to the site to remove the rock and clear the carriageway.
The town council deploys 22 Local Police officers and three Civil Protection members to deal with the storm’s effects. Five administrative staff reinforce its communications centre to help coordinate the response.
