Ibiza tourism: overnight stays fall 8% despite more tourists
Ibiza's overnight stays fell 8% in 2025 even as the number of tourists rose 1.2%, figures discussed in the Balearic Parliament show. In August, pressure on the island's territory dropped 2.38%. Tourism minister Jaume Bauzá said on Tuesday, 15 September, that the figures show the Balearic government's visitor-containment policies are working.
Bauzá said tourists had been spread more evenly through the months of highest activity. He also said the government was separating growth in visitor spending from growth in tourist numbers.
The minister pointed to the Human Pressure Index, saying it showed a clear trend towards containment on Ibiza.
Socialist deputy Álex Pitaluga rejected that reading. He said the August fall was minimal and did not match what had originally been announced.
Pitaluga said the Human Pressure Index rose 0.65% on Ibiza in 2025 and was at a historic high. The island, he added, still faced extraordinary pressure on limited territory.
