Ibiza seeks university data on traffic and tourism
On the island of Ibiza, council president Vicent Marí wants more university data to guide decisions on traffic and tourism pressure. The Ibiza Island Council said on 2 October that Marí had taken part in a university event on sustainable travel and how much pressure island areas can bear.
The University of the Balearic Islands’ Gedetur research group organised the event with the council. Participants shared knowledge about transport, tourism pressure and the capacity of island areas. Marí said he wanted the university to study Ibiza’s situation more closely and young people to help look for solutions.
On transport, Marí pointed to vehicle regulation and plans to improve public transport. The council did not say what new decisions might follow from further research.
