A new secondary school for 690 pupils in Eivissa, on Ibiza, is out to tender. The Balearic Islands Department of Education and Universities put the building work for IES Can Cantó out to tender on 1 October 2026. The project has a budget of €14.5 million.

The department says Ibiza needs more school places as demand grows. The plans include 16 compulsory secondary classes and six upper-secondary classes, offering humanities and social sciences, science and technology, and general studies.

Classrooms and offices will occupy one part of the building, with a gym and cafeteria in another. A covered area between them will form the main entrance. The plans also include outdoor sports courts and a car park.

Building work is expected to take 22 months, from the first quarter of 2027 to the fourth quarter of 2028.
