Mallorca rocks: illegal crane returns, man reported

An illegal crane has returned to the rocks at Cala Egos, Mallorca, where it was used to lower a rigid inflatable boat into the sea. On 11 September, the Guardia Civil recorded a fresh offence against a 66-year-old man of Nordic origin after finding the crane, the boat and a concreted patch of rock. The equipment was being used without permission in a public sea and coastal area.

The crane was anchored to a concrete platform of about two square metres built on the ground, the Guardia Civil said.

Crane was removed after 2024 report

Officers had already reported the case in 2024 under the Coast Law, over the illegal occupation of the public maritime and coastal domain. The crane was later removed, and checks last year found that it had not been installed again.

The Guardia Civil has now documented its return and the unauthorised use of the protected public area.
