Ibiza illegal dumps prompt action plan

Illegal rubbish dumps, waste and abandoned vehicles have been reported in rural areas around Can Nadal in Santa Eulària, Ibiza. On Thursday, 17 September, the PSOE put forward a motion calling for a joined-up improvement plan for the neighbourhood. The party says the sites raise health and safety concerns and could increase the fire risk.

Dumps and a dangerous exit

The PSOE wants Santa Eulària Town Hall to deal with the affected spots and inspect them regularly, to stop new dumping sites becoming established. It says neighbours have also raised concerns about possible informal settlements.

Parked cars near the exit are also said to block drivers’ view when joining the Santa Eulària road. The motion asks the town hall and the Island Council to examine safer access measures, including a possible alternative way in and out. It also calls for better accessibility and parking for older people and families.

Cleaning and rainwater

Neighbours have criticised what the PSOE describes as inadequate cleaning and upkeep of public areas. The party says these jobs should form part of regular municipal maintenance services.

It also wants a priority study into drainage and how rainwater is channelled away. The study would identify the worst trouble spots and help plan further work. The PSOE says Can Nadal needs one coordinated plan rather than isolated fixes.
