An illegal holiday let in Eivissa, on Ibiza, faces a proposed €4.2 million fine: the city council is processing a penalty worth 75 per cent of the property’s value. Mayor Rafa Triguero announced the proposal on 21 October 2026 during a debate on the state of the municipality. No final fine has been announced.

Seven homes sealed

The proposal comes as the council checks other suspected illegal holiday lets. Between June and August, it inspected 99 homes, drew up 14 reports and sealed seven properties.

More homes on the drawing board

Housing is one of residents’ main concerns, alongside parking and cleaning, Triguero said. The city has plans at various stages for up to 1,385 protected, social or price-capped homes.

Three further areas could accommodate 1,776 price-capped homes, while two residential projects could provide another 300. That puts the potential total at 3,461 homes, but whether they are built depends on the projects moving through planning and development.
