Where the ads came down

Airbnb removed 658 ads, Vrbo 593, Booking 204 and Rentalia 17. The council counts each ad only once, even if it disappears and later reappears, and includes it only if it was last found to be illegal and remains offline. For the total number of places, its monitoring firm uses the capacity stated for each property rather than an estimate per ad.

Fines and orders to stop

From January to October 2026, the council opened 198 penalty cases, with fines totalling €5.9 million. It also began 76 procedures to declare activities illegal. Of those, 69 ended with orders to stop the activity immediately. Together, the two types of case make up the council’s total of 274 for 2026.

The council wants illegal listings off the market. Its tourism chief, Guillem Ginard, says the campaign is also about protecting people who live on Mallorca and ensuring businesses that follow the rules face fair competition.
