Five fines as Palma police shut illegal Son Gotleu market

Palma Local Police cleared an illegal market in Son Gotleu, Palma, on 14 September and issued five fines. Officers removed the goods and equipment used for street selling during an operation that began at 20.45.

At the junction of Calle Indalecio Prieto and Calle Santa Florentina, police found two selling points facing each other at the start of Calle Santa Florentina. They identified one seller, but could not find a second person held responsible for the activity.

A precautionary search of the identified seller’s belongings uncovered marijuana inside a bag of crisps, police said. Officers also seized items intended for taking drugs.

A police database check showed the man had an outstanding court summons, which officers handed to him. He received notices for the unauthorised use of public space, drug possession and carrying items for drug consumption.

The remaining two fines went to the driver of a car parked illegally on the pavement in the same area.
