Mallorca stopovers: 343 Imserso travellers get aid

A stop in Mallorca will cost less for 343 Imserso travellers from Menorca, Ibiza and Formentera during the 2025-2026 season. The Balearic Government has awarded them help with the journey to Mallorca needed to take part in the tourism programme run by Imserso, Spain’s Institute for Older People and Social Services. The support covers trips requiring a Mallorca stopover, whether the final destination is mainland Spain or another island.

The Balearic Government’s Ministry of Families, Social Welfare and Dependency Care said on Wednesday that it had increased the fund to 37,500 euros so every application could be met.

Up to 200 euros for a stop in Mallorca

The payment is capped at 150 euros per person. It can rise to 200 euros when the recipient travels with an accompanying person.

The grant can only be claimed after the journey has been completed.

Removing an extra hurdle

The scheme is intended to ensure that older people living on Menorca, Ibiza and Formentera are not put at a disadvantage when joining cultural and recreational programmes. The government says such activities can support health, quality of life, active ageing, personal independence and the prevention of dependency.
