Imserso travel queues: 880,000 places available

Queues have formed as bookings open for Imserso social tourism trips, but 880,000 places are available for the season. In Madrid on 16 September, Social Rights Minister Pablo Bustinduy urged potential travellers to stay calm. He said places will continue to be released and booked throughout the season and across the year.

Bustinduy encouraged eligible people to apply for one of the destinations rather than focus solely on the first booking dates. He said the existing 880,000 places must be filled first, while leaving unanswered whether the programme will grow beyond that number.

The minister called the social tourism scheme a key part of Spain’s social protection system. People on the lowest incomes can use a flat fare of 50 euros, he said.
