Mallorca fire: Four rescued as Inca building evacuated

In Inca, Mallorca, firefighters rescue four people from a burning building early on Monday and evacuate everyone living there. The fire breaks out at about 02.15 in a building on Ses Garroves street. The Mallorca Fire Service says crews put it out by 04.30.

The fire service initially says Inca council has had to find temporary accommodation for 10 people. On Monday morning, the council puts the figure at at least four. Some people find somewhere else to stay, while others need council help. Social services are due to discuss their options with them that morning.

Firefighters and council technicians inspect the building on Monday morning. They say it does not need propping up, but electrical and plumbing repairs mean people cannot return home yet. Anyone going in to collect belongings must be accompanied by officers from Inca Local Police.
