Inca Shoe Museum joins International Council of Museums

The Inca Shoe Museum in Inca, Mallorca, joined the International Council of Museums on Monday, 17 August 2026. The Museo del Calzado y de la Industria de Inca has become part of the organisation that promotes and supports museum development.

Inca Town Hall said the move recognised the museum’s work in sharing the heritage associated with the town’s footwear history and industry. Membership also gives the institution access to an international network of museums and professionals to exchange knowledge, experience and good practice.

Inca mayor Virgilio Moreno said joining the International Council of Museums marked an important milestone for the museum, linking it to a global community focused on preserving heritage and highlighting the contribution local museums can make.
