Palma sends 1,500 firms a new industry plan survey

Around 1,500 companies across the Balearic Islands are receiving a digital survey this week as Palma prepares its industry plan for 2027 to 2031. The questionnaire asks businesses what they need from the plan. On Wednesday, 9 September, Industry Director General Alfons Gómez met the consultancy Infyde, which is writing the document.

The Balearic Ministry for Business, Self-Employment and Energy said the meeting examined the first findings from interviews with companies, business organisations and trade unions from across the islands.

The consultation is still under way, with interviews and questionnaires going to businesses and representative associations. Gómez said the plan must be practical and realistic, built around what companies need and setting industrial priorities for the years ahead.

Further meetings are planned with the identified value chains to examine the needs of individual branches of industry.

Draft due in November

The government plans to show the sector a preliminary draft in November. Companies and associations will then be able to suggest changes and check the strategic measures before the final plan is published by the end of the year.

Minister Alejandro Sáenz de San Pedro said the plan would set the route for improving the competitiveness of Balearic industry and advancing the islands’ reindustrialisation.
