Mallorca and the other Balearic islands are the focus of a 2027–2031 industry plan: on Monday, 5 October, shoe, jewellery and furniture businesses put forward what they need. The talks also bring in firms and representatives from leather and fashion, costume jewellery, specialist manufacturing, wood and home-related businesses.

The Balearic Ministry of Enterprise, the Self-Employed and Energy says Alfons Gómez, its director general for industry and industrial estates, chairs the meetings. Each group will review how its trade is doing, identify its main challenges and suggest projects that could help firms grow and compete. The government wants the plan to strengthen industry, create quality jobs and broaden the Balearic economy.

The talks follow meetings last Friday with food and drink businesses and the printing and publishing trades. Eleven sector meetings are scheduled by 9 October. Their contributions will form the basis of a draft industry plan.
