On Mallorca, a row over industry breaks out in the Balearic Parliament in Palma on Tuesday. Opposition MP Llorenç Pou says it is easier to find a disco or a children’s play centre in an industrial estate than an industrial firm. Alejandro Sáenz de San Pedro, the Balearic minister for Business, the Self-Employed and Energy, counters that 47 million euros has been allocated this legislative term to help industries compete.

Pou also says the minister will be remembered only for looking for microphones in his office and for calling the tourism monoculture “blessed”. Sáenz de San Pedro says he is proud of his department’s industrial policies. If Pou is concerned about industry, the minister says, he should call for progress on the national industry law.
