Balearics jobs stay steady as inflation hits 3.9%

Inflation stood at 3.9 per cent in the Balearic Islands in July, while the region’s jobs market held steady through the summer season. Carmen Planas, president of the employers’ association CAEB, gave the assessment in Palma on Wednesday as August unemployment and Social Security registration figures were reviewed. She said the islands were close to full employment.

Unemployment was 1 per cent lower than in the same month of 2025. But CAEB said the annual fall had slowed to its lowest pace.

Planas warned about the rise in inflation. Across Spain, it reached 4.3 per cent in August, while the Balearic figure was 3.9 per cent in July.
