Mallorca shopping costs climb as inflation talks loom
Mallorca’s shopping basket is feeling the squeeze of inflation: Balearic economy minister Antoni Costa meets business and social groups on Wednesday to hear what they need. The first meeting starts at 11.30, the Balearic government says. Trade and industry representatives follow at 13.30.
Costa wants to learn how inflation is affecting businesses across the Balearic Islands. Bartomeu Alcover, director general of budgets and financing, will join him. Costa has not said whether the talks will lead to new measures to ease shopping costs.
The meetings follow talks in April about the economic effects of escalating fighting in the Middle East. Those ended with an agreement on €160 million in aid. Whether this round produces more help remains open.
