Balearic insolvency proceedings fall 21.6% by July
In the Balearic Islands, Spain, 76 insolvency proceedings were recorded between January and July 2026, down 21.6% on the same period a year earlier, according to Informa D&B, a Cesce subsidiary. Company dissolutions also declined, falling 1.5% to 658.
The total included 33 creditor insolvency cases, 15.4% fewer than in the previous year. There was one special procedure for micro-enterprises, down 85.7%, and two restructuring plans, twice the number recorded in the same period of 2025.
National picture
Across Spain, insolvency proceedings fell 4% year on year to 3,984 during the first seven months of 2026. However, company dissolutions rose 12% to 19,534.
July brought 602 insolvency proceedings nationwide, 1% more than in July 2025. Dissolutions totalled 2,098 during the month, up 16% year on year but 4% below the June figure.
Trade has the most creditor insolvencies
Trade recorded the highest number of creditor insolvencies since January, with 683 cases, or 23% of the national total. Construction and property activities followed with 526 cases, ahead of industry with 422.
Construction and property activities also led company dissolutions, with 4,837 cases. Trade registered 3,766 dissolutions and business services 3,010.
