Mallorca shopkeeper held over alleged iron bar attack
In Palma, Mallorca, a boy is taken to a local medical centre on Tuesday after a food shop owner allegedly hits him on the head with an iron bar. Spanish National Police officers later arrest the shopkeeper on suspicion of causing injury. The shopkeeper had accused the boy of stealing.
Police were called to the shop in Son Gotleu after its hold-up alarm was activated. A worker told officers that a young man and a woman had entered and apparently taken something, according to the police.
As the worker spoke to officers, the boy’s father arrived. He insulted and threatened the worker, saying he would set fire to the shop with him inside. Officers restrained him.
Police found the shopkeeper in a nearby street minutes later. He confirmed the incident but said the boy had also assaulted him. Officers then arrested him.
