Jesús road closure: 100m shut for pedestrian trial
Around 100 metres of the EI-100A through the centre of Jesús, Ibiza, will close to through traffic from Friday. Santa Eulària des Riu Council is testing a partial pedestrian zone to see whether the village centre can become safer and easier to use on foot. Drivers will no longer be able to cross Jesús on this road between Eivissa and Cala Llonga or Avinguda Cap Martinet.
Traffic arriving from Cala Llonga towards Eivissa will be stopped by the cemetery. Vehicles coming from Eivissa and heading for Cala Llonga or Carrer des Cap Martinet will be stopped at Carrer Gavina.
Access to the public car park at Plaça de Jesús will remain exceptionally open during the trial. Drivers must enter via Carrer Gavina and follow the temporary signs for getting in and out.
Santa Eulària des Riu’s Mobility Department is marking the closure, changed directions and diversion routes in the coming days. The council has urged drivers to take particular care at diversions and junctions in the first days, and to respect pedestrians and residents in the affected area.
The trial will show the council how the new layout works on the ground, how it affects traffic and what further measures may be considered for mobility and public space in central Jesús.
